Meeting the Needs of ‘Kings Kids’
Needy and vulnerable children are cared for through the Kings Kids children programs operated by City Ministries, an arm of EMS/ECWA (Read more about SIM, ECWA and EMS).
City Ministries seeks to meet spiritual, physical and emotional needs of needy children by providing them with food, clothing, shelter, medicine, education, and vocational training. They are taught that they are loved by Jesus and a child of the King.
The Kings Kids department of City Ministries operates centers for orphans, street children, and other vulnerable children called CARE Centers (Children At Risk Educational). In addition, they support EMS schools for Nigerian missionary children. The goal is to meet children’s spiritual needs as well as equip them for life in Christ.
City Ministry operates in multiple cities in Nigeria. Their work includes operating ten CARE Centers housing, feeding, educating and loving more than 400 children. In Plateau State there are six Kings Kids locations:
- Giden Bege Boys Assessment Unit (House of Hope) in Jos
- Gyero CARE center with Cornerstone Academy (Primary) School and Girls Assessment Unit
- Leadership Training Academy (for boys aged 12+) and Integrity High School in Lamingo (aka ‘LTA’)
- Girls Transition House (for girls aged 12+) and Integrity High School in Bassa
- Life Experience House for young women (older kids learning skills after high school) (LEH)
- Life Experience House for young men (LEH)
City Ministries is often referred to as CME, an abbreviation for City Ministries of EMS (Evangelical Missionary Society) 0f ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All).
