Ministering to the Vulnerable throughout Nigeria
City Ministries of ECWA (CME) is ministry reaching the vulnerable and marginalized throughout Nigeria. It acts as the urban arm of EMS and helps mobilize churches to do outreach and care for the needy as a para-church ministry.
CME is made up of several specific urban ministry units including Gidan Bege (House of Hope), which focuses on meeting human need in order to effectively evangelize the lost. King’s Kids, which cares for needy children. City Sports, which uses sports to reach youth. Missions, which uses outreach to support the church planting work of Nigerian missionaries in rural areas. Read more about these ministries under Children/ Youth, Unreached People, and Marginalized Adults.
CME currently ministers in several Nigerian cities and has hundreds of full-time, part-time and volunteer workers that are sharing the love of Jesus with thousands in need. Our purpose is to honor God by wholistically impacting people in need, as it preaches the gospel, *heals the sick and partners with others to do the same.
City Ministries believes that ‘Heals the Sick” encompasses physical, emotional, intellectual & spiritual healing to people.
Mobilization & Training Unit helps make our ministry more effective, helps us expand to other areas, and acts as a resource to District Church Councils (DCCs), churches and EMS, in order to help them better fulfill Christ’s Great Commission. We are currently working with EMS to train all 900 missionaries in church planting and Islam.
Finance/Admin Unit supports all areas of CME and helps the ministry to run well. We currently have a Chartered Accountant and other experienced financial staff that help keep the ministry organized, accountable and effective for the Lord.
City Ministries’ 10 core values include: Unreached Peoples, Evangelism, Discipleship, Courageous, Servant Leadership, Reconciliation, Development, Compassion, Advocacy, Orphans & Vulnerable Children.
